Dakar on your doorstep.
« on: January 14, 2019, 09:44:36 PM »
I first thought that this rally was just for big BMW's, but looking at the weight limitations the CB500X is more than capable. Is anyone up for it?

Yep...I'm in. Can I use your bike though?  :001:

There used to be an event called The Taffy Dakar, (which may be this event renamed)and an Irish equivalent called The Paddy Dakar, down near Limerick, if memory serves...I keep meaning to sign up and have a go, but life seems to get in the way

...one of these days :084:

If its run by Burt and Moly it will be good, end of. Using the tulips to nav adds loads to the experience, slows you down, gets you thinking and looking around rather than follow the orange marker.

That looks like fun.
Nice low-tech approach and simple philosophy.

I love the Tupperware container roadbook box.  :008:

Seems like a great idea for beginners. If I was in the area I would give it a try. Never navigated by roadbook. Seems a bit hairy at Dakar speeds, but good fun in this setting.
