Cold day for a ride.
« on: February 02, 2019, 07:37:10 PM »
My hands and body were warm, but my feet were like ice. Need some heated insoles.

Sir David Stirling war memorial. Some info here: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/doune/stirlingmemorial/index.html

Ben Ledi, Callander.

Quiet country roads.

Summer seems such a long way off at the moment, but I had to get out for a ride as I couldn't commute on those sub zero days last week.  :190:

I remember those days. It's nice to get out, even if it's for a short bit.  :190:

My Boy Scout leader always said "if your feet are cold, put on a hat". I've found that if my head is cold my feet turn to blocks of ice. I've tried wearing a balaclava under my helmet, but that didn't help as much as wrapping a thick scarf twice around my neck under my helmet and keeping any cold air from coming into the underside of the helmet. I rode in 20F weather here last week and was fine. Not perfect, but still a great ride.

Beautiful pictures, by the way. And great looking bike! How did you get the fork gaiters on? I'd like to do that on my bike.

To fit fork gaiters you have to take the forks out from the yokes (triple tree?) after taking the front wheel out, you can then slide the gaiters down over the top of the forks. Not difficult but a bit involved!

I would happily swap our weather for yours at the moment.  :028:

Going to try Alpaca wool socks.I wear a Buff neck tube with fleece liner and make it into a balaclava, so my head is always warm
My fork gaitors were fitted when we did the fork seals and fork oil. Straight forward once they are out.
Appologies for the dirty bike.  :028:

It's 65 degrees here today! The roads are still a mess, but Spring will be here soon!
