« on: March 14, 2019, 05:42:33 PM »
Hi Gang,
Ok, so looking at one of these cheapies

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ryde-48L-Carbon-Motorcycle-Top-Box-Motorbike-Bike-Luggage-Helmet-Back-Storage/331765060696

Need a rack to mount it on!

Anyone got anything lying around that would do the job? Happy to have to fangle stuff to fit!

Thanks
If it aint broken, it will break, best learn how to fix it!

Hi, I got a similar top-box for a few pennies less - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-Helmet-Universal-TopBox-0888-Black-Quick-Release-twin-Helmet-Box-52L/301996906195?hash=item46506b16d3:g:ReAAAOSwZMNajyMw
I already had a Honda rack and the new top-box supplied baseplate has enough holes in it to align with the Honda plate.
The best bit of these top-boxes is that they are keyed to the luggage plate - so 1 key turn and the box can be lifted off and the bike is left with a solid luggage rack.
Good luck finding a luggage rack - if it helps, the OEM rack mounts will fit 2013 to 2016

Thanks for review, looks like the way to go! Mine is the 2018 , so assume basic stuff like frame, mounting points etc would have remained the same.

Any rack will do, otherwise might see what I can make up from some old steel tubing I have lying around!

the mounting plate in the link looks very similar to the givi monolock type (as opposed to monokey). these'll fit to virtually anything.
rack options include givi monorack, Renntec, SW motech, hepco & becker and various flat cnc'd ali jobs from Thailand.

If you like pipe wrangling, this is a nice design from a german company called fehling

And I need to for a trip setting out on 22nd :033:

So need one for a reasonable number of beer tokens or, and a long shot here, the loan of one for a weekend  :440:

So, thanks to many hours on fleabay, sourced Givi monokey luggage kit inc plate for top box and side pannier frames.....for 70! :046: :152:

Just an hour or so with a drill and some steel plate and all should be good!

Bargainous if you managed to get a pair of pannier frames in with the deal at that price. :152:

All the Givi stuff I've had over the years has been reliable
