Creamy skuzz on top of oil
« on: March 15, 2019, 05:42:10 PM »
Hello,

After washing bike down and driving home I checked oil level and noted it was down but also a slight creaminess on top of oil. Not a lot but alarming.

Us it possible for water and detergent to get drawn in through airbox and filter from the wash down? Thanks for any advice.

My sons bike does the same, its the time of year, shortish runs, and the engine doesnt have time to thoroughly heat up and evaporating any moisture present.
Go for a few decent runs, give the bikes engine a good work out and shell be good.
A lot of bike shop suffer from this, esp in our climate. Dont be alarmed

Thanks for the reply, oils only been in for 1000 miles. Has been on short runs today so perhaps that's what's going on. Did have to top it up a little mind.

Thanks for putting mind at ease. Reassuring when see the coolant level where it should be too!

IT needs what they call in the MG car world "an Italian Tuning" ie plenty of revs on a good run to clear it.
Condensation forms on short runs.

Time for a clear out then! Think seeing soap and water on airbox worried me! Cheers.

It's pretty difficult to get water into the airbox unless you wash the bike without the seat on it and direct the water flow at the snorkel.

Looking at this my bike did it when I lived in the UK,since we moved to Portugal with the warmer climate, never done it so think as said, short rides and not getting hot enough to evaporate, still soon be time to give her a good thrashing :028:
Present bikes,MZes/250/2 Trophy ,CB500X and a Sym Cruisym 300 Maxi scooter plus a Suzuki Address 125.
