Spanner wrench for rear stock shock adjustment
« on: April 25, 2019, 07:45:09 AM »
I was wondering if there is a special kind of spanner wrench needed for the rear shock adjustment on the cb500x?   I looked under the seat on the bike I got 2nd hand and there are no tools,  so I need to pick up my own.

I found this product on an online sales site and was wondering if would do the job?

The answer is possibly.

The tool provided by Honda is not, in my opinion that great (I had to re shape mine).

The C spanner (as I believe it is called) needs to be very close to the same circumference as the shock.

The part number for the toolkit, which includes the C spanner is 89202KY1700. it may be easier to just order this, it is quite cheap.
If it aint broken, it will break, best learn how to fix it!

You would need the spanner for the Honda shock collar or one the proper size to fit it. They are usually cheap from Honda. I had an adjustable one for shocks and head bearing nuts. If you have multiple bikes like me or exchange bikes frequently, it may be handy to have an adjustable suspension spanner.

This is a link for reference as Amazon US carries almost everyone currently made.

Here is the cheap one.

Here is one similar to the one I have and can be expensive.
