M.P.G
« on: May 15, 2019, 05:19:33 PM »
I was wondering why I couldn't get as many miles for my gallon as everyone else , the last reading for an average over 207 mls according to the trip computer was 69.5 . Unfortunately for the dirty little liar I was  watching my miles and brimmed the tank to previous level . I managed to use 11.71 litres or 2.57 gallons for those 207 miles so it was actually 80.5 MPG. I feel better about it now . :001: . Any one know where the mileage is recorded from ? Wondering now how a sixteen tooth sprocket fitted affects this .

They all seem to be way out. Some think it may be that it's calibrated for US gallons. All you need to do now is get it into the 90's which is possible on a nice long run on quiet A roads. Should be easy in Scotland!

My average is mid 90's, my record is 104. I check my MPG online.

I only go by the Honda readout (don't care too much about getting an exact figure with Fuelly or other apps) - the last 2 years over 8000 miles averaged as shown in 'signature' below, all A,B and Motorway miles, no commuting.

Even on a faster 270 mile ride at the weekend, chasing big Ducati's and Triumphs, it showed an average in the high 80's (UK)..... lowest average on a tankful so far has been 83.4mpg (I don't measure it particularly accurately, just zero reading at every fill up).

The Story So Far.........
2017 and 2018: 8000miles recreational use - 89.82mpg UK; 74.79mpg US; 3.14litres/100km

The indicated MPG, at least on mine, seems to be reasonably accurate. +/- 70 mpg, which lines up with the figures (litres to fill up vs miles travelling) I note down at every fill up (which about every two days).

my new bike has had its first service, last weekend I did a 3 day trip around north/mid Wales, covering 480 miles , two up with luggage and up near the redline on many occasion. When we got home the computer said,,, average 82.5 MPG.  :152:
A mate who came on his X-ADV riding solo averaged 79MPG.

The MPG indicator is off for the US too. I get 68 to 72 US MPG. The readout is always high in the 80's or 90's.
