You'd put a rubber sleeve around the frame rail, to provide some compression

Hey Kermitt...if you check out page 100 on the pdf, I'm pretty sure you can add a pair of surface mount compression latches (or something similar) to the case, which will draw them into the frame, with a suitable tang attached....

Always puzzled me why pannier makers don't use compression latches in this way....accessible from inside the pannier so they can't be fiddled with...

another alternative (probably easier to execute) would be a pair of Quick release truss (pipe) clamps...these would be fixed to the case, in line with the pannier frame rails....ee pic below

Interesting- would indeed settle my nerves over hearing rattling cases over every "imperfection" in the road :) Thanks!!

I am prone to fettle. Can't leave well enough alone. And if the fettle cures the rattle...

I'm looking at options to try something different to the usual hard panniers and like the look of the Kriega OS 24 or 32 Structured soft bags. They appeal because they should also be useable on some of my other bikes without too much hassle and I like the idea of something that won't smash to pieces in a drop!

My question is whether or not they will fit directly to the RR racks or whether I would need to fit the OS-Platform to the RR racks. I realise you can use them with over the saddle base straps but I like the security and ease of strapping them directly to a rack on the side of the bike.

Cheers

Another thought is whether they would clear a Scorpion can!

As an update, and close out on my piece of this, I installed an SW- Motech EVO rack and replaced the quick disconnects with bolts. My Happy Trails panniers bolt right up and removal takes about 5 minutes.

Soft panniers, if and when I go there, will mount right over the EVO rack. For me - a good solution.

it's always worth thinking how something might do double duty. I'm coming from a background of building VW campervan interiors...everything serves at least two purposes, apart from the curtains...tables convert to chairs, cupboards become tables, beds become lockers :001:
