Day routes around Central Scotland
on: July 31, 2019, 05:30:25 PM
I headed out for a few hours on the bike today, and ended up doing this route of about 140 miles, through the Trossachs to Killin and Aberfeldy then back through Crieff and Stirling.

I really enjoyed this route and thought I would share it - note that after Crieff it's possible to use B roads from Braco through Kinbuck, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan to avoid the motorway to Stirling, and from there the motorway to Glasgow can be cut out by going via Bannockburn, the Carron Dam road and Tak-Ma-Doon road into Kilsyth.

Lots of other good routes up there, including the road along Loch Earn to Crieff (A85 on this map) and the smaller moor road from Comrie to Braco.

Any local day routes you'd like to share?

Another favourite, a figure of eight around The Green Welly stop, which we've probably all done!!  Lots of side routes here too, by going up through Inveraray and across to Loch Awe, or maybe via Oban.....

Finally a longer route from last year, up through Glencoe and back through Glenshee - not so much a day ride though, I had a few days in Aviemore when I did this one.

Looking forward to seeing a few other people's ideas!!
