Hepco & Becker Engine Bars
« on: June 28, 2019, 09:00:53 AM »
I'm thinking of fitting Hepco & Becker lower engine bars has anyone fitted them I'm interested in views on how well the fit, one person on another forum said they fouled the brake rod & needed a notch grinding in to clear it :023:

I have both the engine and tank guards by H&B.
Fitted like a glove on my 2016 model. No adaptations needed whatsoever.
Made de bike slightly heavier at the front but also a bit stiffer to ride (as I like it...)
At least that is what I felt. I'm glad I did the install.
Good luck..

I had the lower H&B bars on my 2013 and they were spot on. A fair amount of work to fit I seem to remember but they fitted perfectly, looked good and I guess would have given decent protection. I didn't bother with the upper ones.

The only thing that came close to touching them was the gear lever but I didn't have to grind them. It wouldn't have been noticeable if I'd had to though.

Can't remember any issues with the brake pedal side.

Hard to believe someone would grind a notch in a new set of crash bars unless they had no option to return them....if they were used, it's likely they've been bent. H & B stuff is usually excellent out of the box

Come to think of it he might have said they touched the gear rod?

Edit:- it was the gear rod that fouled the bars!!

Looking on their website there are 3 different part Nos for the lower engine bars surely there wouldn't be unless there are slight changes in the fitting, presumably you've to make sure you get the ones for the year of your bike?

Hey!

I've mounted both, i.e. tankguards and engine protection bars yesterday to my '19 Honda and did 500 km+ after. They fit perfectly, they are very rigid and solid, there were no modifications, there are also no vibrations or any driving related problems, and I'm 190 cm and 90 kg. If you want, I can shoot few photos, so you can look by yourself on the final effect :) PS I had the opportunity to compare H&B bars to single GIVI bars, and I think the later are a little bit softer and less rigid, but still better, than the original Honda ones.

Everything best,
Hans

That's nice to know as I've a set of them to fit this week, did you support the engine while you did the job just thinking it may be needed while engine bolts are loosened?

Yep, for the sake I've placed a squared wooden piece below and just followed the instructions step by step.
