seriously though, it sounds like a clip is out somewhere, or a screw is missing from the radiator cowling etc. Sorry I can't be more specific

I am beginning to think that is what it is. When I get to Colorado, I'll have week to look it over.

it's only when you wake up to find them on the ceiling above your head, arranged in formation, spelling out the words "WE ARE LEGION" that you really need to worry..... :005:

I think the gas cap can rattle if not properly centered.

Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds more like it is coming from the front and under the noise.

Do you have additional crash bars fitted?  They will connect to the Engine and Frame, so will pick up on the engine vibrations more easily and if there are any loose nuts and bolts, such as the Lightbar Mounting bracket under the Nose then this will rattle.
Having fun with a CB500XA with Rally Raid Level 3 upgrade.

No crash bars.  Tomorrow I'm hoping to get a chance to spend more time hunting this down, plus I'll have some additional ears to help.

One of my favorite tools is an automotive stethoscope. It has helped me diagnose rattles in my family's old Volvos for years. It really helps pinpoint the source.
