Recently bought a 2019 500X and am just loving the bike.
Up until last year I hadnt ridden a bike for nearly 25 years. I passed my test on a 125 and then immediately bought a GPZ750 which was far too heavy, probably a few too many HP and for me not enjoyable at all. Eventually I sold it and had a few other bikes before other priorities took over.
Last year I bought a CRF250L and have already ridden it to the Pyrenees and back and did 500 miles of off road while there.
Once I decided I needed a road bike I no longer felt the urge to get the biggest and most powerful bike (old age I think its called) and after a test ride bought the 500X. This bike is all I need ... very stable, great cornering, plenty of power for overtaking and motorway work and over 70mpg - seems to me its the perfect balance. With bikes bigger/ more powerful is most definitely not always better!

It's not old age, it's wisdom. Unfortunately it usually only comes with old age!
Welcome to the forum and congrats on a great bike!

Yes, the Kawasaki GPZ750 was a handful. I had one too, and it was an all or nothing bike. It had to be stopped or accelerated flat out. No in between.

Like you, I abandoned the heavyweights (my previous ride was a BMW R1100R) and bought a CB500X. What a difference. A much friendlier bike!
