Iridium Spark Plug Part Numbers
« on: August 17, 2019, 01:44:58 PM »
I'd like to get confirmation about which NGK iridium spark plug should be used with a 2018 CB500x.  I've seen two NGK part numbers mentioned: CR8EIX (4218) and CR8EHIX-9 (3797).

The only official reference I've found is http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/mc_extra.php?id=1278, an NGK site which cross references our standard CPR8EA-9 (2306) to CR8EIX (4218).

Just to clarify, are the plugs you are about to install CRX8IEX? Or maybe CR8EIX?

Right, the OEM standard plug is the NGK CPR8EA-9.  My part number question concerns iridium plugs for the CB500x.

Thanks, vackor for posting that link.  It gave a new iridium spark plug part number to consider, an NGK 95134 CPR8EAIX-9.

Hello! True, I haven't got the new CB500X yet (I'm waiting for it 4 months ago), but I ordered it from here. In my previous motorcycle I used this manufacturer's product, to my satisfaction. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32841307507.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.70e34c4drYV5uL

I'm running CR8EIX plugs in my '13 model. I've not noticed a major difference over standard plugs (which I have on some other bikes), but I don't think the current ones are as good as the first pair. I have read that quality can be a bit variable with NGK and Denso ones are better, so have a pair of IU24A plugs to go in at the next change.

Be aware that there are cheap Chinese knockoffs for sale that are of low quality.  It is very hard to tell the difference between the real ones and the knockoffs.  Racer
