How do you secure your CB500X while it is up on scissor jack
« on: August 21, 2019, 09:17:12 PM »
I'm planning on getting the Rally Raid engine guard but want to know how to secure the bike while it is up on a scissor jack. :187:

A photo would be very helpful.
Thanks

Hi Terry - The bike ought to be perfectly stable enough once you've got the engine guard fitted, as it has a flat bottom.

If you mean prior to that, you can use a block of wood (a chunk of 2x4 usually works) to help even out the underside of the bike - if you have an earlier bike with the belly-pan it's best to remove that first of course.

In either instance, obviously it can depend on the size [footprint] of the jack you're using - but generally speaking it's rare you actually need to completely support the bike in the air anyway (unless you are pulling both wheels off at the same time to take them for a tyre change for example) - once one of the wheels is out, you can always lower the jack so the remaining wheel is back on the floor to help balance the bike.

It's not a unicorn as such, just a little mule with a bump on it's head... www.CB500Xadventure.com
