Another vote for the 16. For $2,000 in savings, you could set up a pretty nice back roads machine. Especially when you consider that most of the things that you would want to buy for the 16, you would probably want to buy for the 19 as well.

Either way, you are going to be a happy rider.
Just damn happy to be here...

The 2016 will probably be fine but I'd always go for the newest machine I can afford, so 2019 for me, as long as you are OK with the (very) slightly higher seat height!!  :027:
The Story So Far.........
2017 and 2018: 8000miles recreational use - 89.82mpg UK; 74.79mpg US; 3.14litres/100km

Hmm, should the 2019 model be higher? Honda say officially the seat height of the 2019er with 810 mm. In addition, the seat is narrower cut forward, which increases the seat / standing comfort.
Of course, the 2019 also has ABS, at least in Germany, here it is standard for all new motorcycles.

The 2019 that I'm looking at does not have ABS but the 2016 does. I decided I'm going to get the 2016 since its local and the 2019 is 4 hours away. Also, like others said, I can add some nice stuff on it for the $2000 difference and I want to make sure I like it enough to keep it long term. I can always upgrade later to a 2019 and probably find a much cheaper one used in a year or two. Thanks for all the advise guys! I'll post a picture after I pick it up tomorrow.

Buy an abs model. If you are out riding and want to shut off abs, just lock the front down on a loose surface and spin the back wheel hard for like 3 seconds. The abs light on the dash starts blinking, and the system shuts off. You can manual brake till your heart's content.. Then... when you get back to ABS friendly terrain, shut your engine off, and your abs will operate as normal after startup.

ABS really is the best choice. It's a wonderful invention. It saves lives.

I'll add my tuppence:  if you're wanting a purely road going bike there are better alternatives like a used MT07, triumph street triple etc for around the same money as the 2019...the 2016 on the other hand is more likely to be a keeper as it's cheaper to buy in the first instance and can be farkled with the money you save

test ride both...it'll be obvious which is best suited
