Definitely - the X has the same, or more, bhp than the original 60's Bonneville and that rocker's favourite, the BSA Gold Star, and plenty of them were ridden 2-up!!   :001:
The Story So Far.........
2017-2019: 12000mls recreational use - 89.73mpg UK; 74.72mpg US; 3.15litres/100km

Having ridden a CB360 from Pittsburgh, PA to Daytona Beach, FL on Spring Break in 1978, with my girlfriend and her dog riding pillion, I can attest to my total lack of responsibility or common sense, but also to the fact that we got there and back and had a total BLAST doing it!!!!  :305:

That is, the engine with two people. Is it weak?
It's just a question of time. The time you have.
Some people travel around the world, two riders on an enfield bullet, only 27 bhp. Make the road at 60 km/h, stay behind trucks and ride only on secondary roads.
The traveling time is longer, but different. The vision is different.

If you have less time, a most powerful bike is a better choice. You can ride at 80 or 100 km/h, and don't have to stay behind trucks. And you don't loose too much speed with passenger and luggages. You can ride on highway too if it's necessary.
And bigger bike it's bigger place for luggages.

If the passenger love to be afraid, take a big bad sportbike :008:!

Less power means just readjusting your expectations a little. I started touring the French and Italian alps back in 1980 two up with camping gear on a Honda CX500. The only time I wished I had another 20bhp was on some of the very steep mountain passes, but it wasn't that big a deal in the scheme of things.

Same power as the CB500X
Honda CX500
Claimed power: 48hp @ 9,000rpm

I used to have the CX500C a long time ago and would take my GF on the back, power was fine  :305:

***EDIT***

Actually thinking about it I've had a few 500's all the same sort of power

Honda CX500
Kawasaki Zephyr 550
Kawasaki KLE500
And I still have a 1976 XT500

I used to take the ex on the back of the Zephyr no problem.
