Lower hose - it brings hot coolant from engine to the radiator so it will give more precise engine temp. Have no idea about the diameter - however you can pull out the lower hose from water pump (you need to drain the coolant in any case) and to see what diameter it has.

Regards

This is incorrect timur - it's top hose out of the engine, bottom hose in.

That is a cool product, however :

1. 5 times the price with bracket and shipping.
2. I dont want to plug anything into my ECU, period.
3. Coolant hose is less than $19 if I need to replace it.
4. Much lower risk to just cut the hose instead of messing with the ECU.

So back to my original questions , 1. what is the inner diameter and 2. upper or lower hose ???

Using an OBD display is not messing with the ecu in any way shape or form.  All it does is display info that is already being fed to the OBD port.  Its completely passive and doesnt mess with anything.  Risk is next to nil, and certainly far lower than modifying the cooling system to accept another temp sensor.

That said, do we know for certain that the OBD port feeds continuous engine temp data?

It's a simple case of...follow the heat,it rises !! In the block it rises...as it cools,it falls.Even in bespoke cooling systems where the radiator is quite remote from the engine the same principal tends to apply...someone will find an example now   :187:

I know the guy from video and his CubeG works fine - all the data is real time. There is a lot of videos about this mod - for XADV, NC750, etc. But his bike is 2016 version - maybe it won't work for 2019 version bike.

hose is 22 mm
this is the gauge I use,
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Trail-Tech-Water-Temp-Meter-22MM-Hose-Black-742-EH2-/233371218435
there is another at about half the price, can't speak to the quality. Have had two  Trail-Tech and never an issue
could not get easy access to the top hose for the sensor install so I used the bottom
couple pics
