New ammo-case panniers installed
« on: March 14, 2020, 08:46:50 PM »
25 $CAD x 2 green ammo cases Fortress 50( 8 Liters each ), i think theyre 6 pounds each . (black ammo were 50$CAD each)
150$ CAD  Givi Specific Kit to Fix PLX1121 - 1121KIT | Honda CB500X 2013-2018 ( swmotech has bracket kit , looks sturdier but was more expensive)
50$ CAD aluminium angle bar + screws + locks + spray can paint + stuff

first heres my mods to the ammo cases
1 - cut / removed the side handle
2 - removed 1 pin from the cover , drilled the first hole so 10-32 ,1 inch screw get through with loktite ,then the second hole taped 10/32 . ( cover wont fall ever gain )
3 - installed a lock , had to cut a bigger hole .
4 - givi kit does NOT include the needed 8mm 1 inch bolt to fix the bar ( front side ) that really stupid, no bolt included the the rear as well , the hole in the rear bracket can fit a bolt up to 3/8 i think , I used 1/4-20 to hold the ammo cases , 10-32 for the locks and angle bar.
I remember measurements if you ever need help . for now they look really good in green , maybe paint them black later. also you can use magnetic tape under the handles .

i dont think so ,  they are mounted level and same angle as the backseat is . I can place a full backpack sideways on the seat fully supported.

Back in the days, I used wing nuts as extra to secure my cases on a R100RS.
Two problems: the vibrations caused the wing nuts to come loose, and I frequently injured my hands on the sharp edges.
Also, in this case (what's in a word..) I think wing nuts might be in the way of the content.
I made similar cases for my X and used regular bolts to attach them. I don't take 'm off every day so there is no effort in that.
